Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The Gambian Police have successfully rescued two abducted children and arrested three suspects in Dimbaya Village as they attempted to flee to Senegal. The children, identified as seven-year-old twins Hassanatou and Hussainatou Jallow, were reported missing from Brikama Gidda on Monday.
Authorities launched an investigation following multiple reports of their abduction. According to preliminary findings, the children’s father, Cherno Korika Jallow—whose official documents list his name as Muhammed Jallow—allegedly took them without consent.
Jallow, who resides in Dakar, Senegal, was reportedly seen leaving Brikama Gidda with the children in a commercial vehicle. The mother, Habibatou Jallow, had legal custody of the twins.
Acting on timely community intelligence, the police swiftly tracked the suspects to Dimbaya, where they intercepted them before they could cross the border. The children were rescued unharmed, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
The police have commended the public for their vigilance and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration in crime prevention. They reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
Community Vigilance Key to Rescue
This incident underscores the critical role of public awareness and swift police response in combating crime. Authorities continue to urge the public to report suspicious activities promptly to help prevent similar occurrences.
With the children now safe and investigations ongoing, law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in safeguarding the rights and well-being of vulnerable individuals across the country.
