Gambiaj.com – (STELLENBOSCH, South Africa) – Stellenbosch FC have announced the departure of Gambian youth international Salifu Colley ahead of the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season.
Colley, who signed with Stellies at the beginning of the last term from Real de Banjul, a professional football club based in the Gambian capital, Banjul, has seen his contract terminated after just one season.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined the Cape Winelands-based outfit alongside several other players, including Kgaogelo Sekgota, Thabo Moloisane, Genino Palace, Thulani Mini, Anicet Oura, Olivier Toure, Oscarine Masuluke, and Mashweu Mphahlele.
During his time with Stellenbosch FC, Colley made five appearances across all competitions in the just-ended PSL season. Despite limited playing time, the young Gambian showcased his potential and contributed to the team’s efforts.
In an official statement, Stellenbosch FC confirmed the departure: “Stellenbosch Football Club can confirm that the club has parted ways with Gambia youth international Salifu Colley. Colley joined Stellenbosch from Real de Banjul at the start of the 2023/24 season and made five appearances throughout his solitary campaign in the Cape Winelands. We thank him for his service and wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Colley’s departure marks another change in Stellenbosch FC’s roster as they prepare for the upcoming season. The club and its supporters will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on Colley’s next move as he continues his football career.
