Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – FC St. Pauli has announced the signing of 20-year-old Gambian striker Abdoulie Ceesay from Real de Banjul, completing a highly anticipated transfer. The deal, which comes after the club also secured James Sands from NYCFC and Noah Weißhaupt from SC Freiburg on loan, marks another ambitious move for the Hamburg-based team as they prepare for Bundesliga competition.
Ceesay, who arrives for an undisclosed fee, brings an impressive track record. While on loan with Estonian club Paide Linnameeskond, he netted 17 goals and provided seven assists in 23 competitive matches. His performances included a standout campaign in the UEFA Conference League, where he tallied three goals and two assists in six appearances, showcasing his ability to deliver on the European stage.
FC St. Pauli’s top personnel executive, Andreas Boremann, expressed optimism about the young striker’s potential. “Abdoulie has a very exciting combination of technical and physical skills. He is still young and has always adapted quickly to the level at his previous clubs. That’s why we are convinced that he will quickly take the steps to recommend himself for Bundesliga appearances with us. At the same time, we want to give him the time he needs to get used to football in Germany.”
Ceesay, for his part, is eager to embrace the challenge of competing in one of Europe’s top leagues. “I’m very happy to have the chance to prove myself in the Bundesliga,” he said in a statement. “I had very good conversations with the coach and the sporting director and am convinced that FC St. Pauli is the right club for me to develop further. This is a big step, and I will do my best to get used to the level as quickly as possible.”
The move signals a bright future for the Gambian forward, who will look to make an immediate impact at St. Pauli while continuing his development in German football. Fans and analysts alike are excited to see how his unique combination of technical finesse and physical prowess translates to the Bundesliga stage.
