Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – In a significant move toward enhancing transparency and accountability in The Gambia, the Chairperson and members of the newly established Access to Information (ATI) Commission were officially sworn in today.
The ceremony took place on Thursday, 5th September 2024, and was presided over by His Excellency the Vice President, Mohammed B.S. Jallow, on behalf of President Adama Barrow.
The ATI Commission was created under the Access to Information Act 2021, a legislative milestone aimed at ensuring that citizens have the right to access public information. This Act marks a crucial step forward in promoting good governance and fostering a culture of openness in the country.
The following individuals have been appointed to the ATI Commission:
Mrs. Neneh Macdouall-Gaye – Chairperson
Ya Amie Touray – Member
Mr. John Charles Njie – Member
Mr. Babucarr Cham – Member
Mr. Bai Emil Touray – Member
The swearing-in ceremony underscores the government’s commitment to implementing the provisions of the Access to Information Act and supporting the Commission’s efforts to provide the public with greater access to information.
