Gambiaj.com – (MIDRAND, South Africa) – In a grand ceremony held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, in South Africa, Rev Mrs. Olufemi Rose Cole-Njie of The Gambia was among the distinguished personalities in Africa to receive the Prestigious Annual Predecessors Award. This year’s award theme was “SUCCESSION: Securing Tomorrow Today.”
The Prestigious Annual Predecessors Awards, celebrated across various continents, honors unsung heroes who have made significant contributions to society and left lasting legacies.
The event was organized by Relevant Achievers Impacting Nations (RAIN), founded by Ghanaian author Ralph Antwi. RAIN focuses on four key projects: Authority, Foundation, Legacy, and Successor. These initiatives aim to foster respect for authority, address foundational societal issues, promote transgenerational thinking, and mentor the younger generation.
During his speech, Antwi highlighted the importance of these projects in achieving societal progress and honoring individuals who have positively impacted their communities. “Our goal is to secure tomorrow today by addressing foundational issues and preparing the younger generation to take over the baton of responsibility,” he said.
Rev Mrs. Femi Olufemi Rose Cole-Njie, a senior citizen of The Gambia, has played a significant role in the lives of many Gambians and is well-known internationally for her contributions. Her recognition follows last year’s award to Rev Pastor Francis Forbes, the first Gambian to receive the PAP award.
The event was attended by dignitaries from across Africa, including Gambia’s High Commissioner in South Africa, Her Excellency Dr. Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay.
Dr. Ceesay also accepted an award on behalf of South Sudan’s Minister of Higher Education, Hon. Awut Deng Acuil, who received the Governance Award.
The ceremony was a gathering of diplomatic corps, academics, business leaders, former ministers, clergy, and government officials, all celebrating the achievements of individuals who have made a lasting impact on society.
