Gambiaj.com – (NEW DELHI, India) – The Gambia’s Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow arrived in India on Sunday to take part in the 19th Africa CII Business Conclave. The event, organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, is a significant platform aimed at bolstering ties between India and African nations.
Launched in 2005, the Africa Conclave has evolved into one of the largest gatherings of senior ministers, policymakers, and business leaders from both Africa and India. Over the years, more than 10,000 African and 8,500 Indian delegates have participated, including over 500 senior ministers and several African heads of state. The Conclave continues to serve as a crucial forum for discussing the India-Africa partnership and its role in global and regional value chain integration.
This year’s edition of the Conclave places a strong emphasis on the opportunities for collaboration in areas such as agriculture and food processing, defense, digital partnerships, financial partnerships, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, infrastructure, power and energy, and skill and capacity development. Bilateral, trilateral, and regional discussions are set to dominate the event, fostering conversations on enhancing cooperation across these critical sectors.
An additional feature of the 19th Conclave is the introduction of product launches during the event. This reflects India’s “AAA” approach to its business engagement with Africa, which emphasizes affordability, adaptability, and appropriateness.
For Indian enterprises, the Conclave presents an opportunity to expand their presence in African markets. It also allows African countries to explore potential investments and long-term projects that could drive economic growth across the continent. The forum’s discussions will build upon the momentum established during the “India Africa Forum Summit” and focus on implementing actionable strategies that have been identified during previous deliberations.
Vice President Jallow’s participation underscores The Gambia’s commitment to deepening economic and development ties with India. His presence is also an indication of the country’s interest in leveraging such international partnerships to support its national growth objectives and contribute to broader regional development in West Africa.
