Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The Gambia Postal Services Corporation (GAMPOST) has entered into a landmark partnership with Bibimoney UK and Nifty ICT Solutions, a move aimed at transforming its services, diversifying its products, and bringing affordable digital financial solutions to Gambians nationwide.

The contract signing ceremony, hosted today by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, marks a decisive step in the country’s push toward a cashless, inclusive digital economy.

For GAMPOST, the partnership addresses a critical need to adapt to a rapidly changing service landscape. As Dr. Abdoulie Sirreh Jallow, First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank and Chairman of the GAMPOST Board, explained, traditional postal services have been rendered largely obsolete by technological advancement.

To remain viable and competitive, GAMPOST must diversify into innovative products that meet modern demands.

This mobile wallet partnership is transformational for GAMPOST,” Dr. Jallow said. “It will not only provide financial benefits but also grant us access to advanced technology and knowledge transfer through staff capacity building. The expertise gained will benefit our corporation, our partners, and the country at large.”

Through the collaboration, GAMPOST users stand to benefit from “Sutura,” a revolutionary interoperable mobile wallet introduced by Bibimoney UK’s CEO, Shiraz Jessa.

The platform works on any phone, on any network, with or without internet access, and integrates seamlessly with banks, mobile money providers, and other digital wallets. It will also provide instant, low-cost cross-border remittance services, a boon for rural and underserved communities who often face high transaction fees.

Minister Lamin Jabbi emphasized that this initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to building the right digital infrastructure and applications so all citizens can participate in and benefit from the digital economy. “We are creating a future where financial services are inclusive and accessible to all,” he said.

The partnership also resonates with the National Development Agenda, according to Director of Telecommunications and Postal Services Serign Modou Bah, as it will improve service delivery nationwide and deepen public participation in the digital space.

British High Commission representative Madam Ida Sarr called the initiative a bold step toward expanding inclusive financial services and boosting economic resilience, while Nifty ICT Solutions CEO Jalamang Jobarteh highlighted its potential to transform rural access to financial tools.

Implementation of the mobile wallet platform begins immediately, with the partners confident it will be a game-changer for The Gambia’s digital, postal, and financial sectors.
