Govt Gets over $60 Million Budget Support from World Bank, ADB, EU

The Gambia government has secured significant budget support from the World Bank Group ($40,500,000), the African Development Bank ($6,700,0000), and the European Union ($12,000,000). The funds are intended to improve governance, strengthen fiscal resilience, and implement transformative reforms in public financial management.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, the support is aimed at strengthening the country’s economic foundation and improving citizens’ lives. The funds will be used to facilitate comprehensive public financial management reforms, strengthen social protection systems to alleviate poverty, and mitigate climate change impacts.

Key focus areas include governance enhancement, fiscal resilience, social protection systems, and climate change mitigation. The Gambia expresses gratitude to the World Bank, African Development Bank, and European Union for their unwavering support in advancing the nation’s development agenda.
