Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into officers who were caught on camera engaging in what has been described as “grossly unprofessional conduct.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the police confirmed that those involved have been ordered to report to the Human Rights and Professional Standards Unit for further investigation. The nature of the misconduct was not detailed in the statement.

Nonetheless, a lot of people think that the police wrongdoing is related to the aggressive behavior and foul words used by the police officers in the video. The two uniformed cops could be clearly heard insulting an elderly man. Even though the incident’s facts are still unknown, the video went viral on Sunday.

In its statement, the GPF emphasized its commitment to maintaining professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights.

The GPF strongly condemns such misconduct and remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and respect for human rights,” the statement read.
