GTSC Assures Public of Uninterrupted Services After Fire at Kanifing Depot

Gambiaj.com – (KANIFING, The Gambia) – The Gambia Transport Service Company Limited (GTSC) has assured the public that its normal bus operations will continue without disruption following a fire incident at its Kanifing Depot on Saturday.

In a statement, GTSC clarified that the fire, which broke out at the depot, affected over ten scrapped buses that had been sold to a local dealer, Abdoulie Bojang. The company emphasized that the incident would have no impact on its daily transport services.

“An unfortunate fire outbreak occurred at our depot in Kanifing earlier today, where over ten of our scrap buses that were sold to one Abdoulie Bojang caught fire. However, this unfortunate incident would not affect our normal operations from today onwards,” the statement read.

GTSC further reassured passengers of its continued commitment to reliable and safe transport services. “As your most reliable and safe transport company, GTSC remains steadfast in maintaining the promised safety for our esteemed customers,” the statement added.

According to internal sources, the fire started during the dismantling of the scrapped buses, leading to an ignition that quickly spread through the vehicles. While the exact cause remains unknown, no injuries were reported.

GTSC management is expected to engage the scrap dealer over the damage caused by the fire, following an assessment of the incident.

Public Transport Unaffected

Despite the fire incident, GTSC has reiterated that all routes will remain operational, and services will continue as scheduled. The company has urged passengers to remain confident in its ability to maintain safe and efficient transportation.
