The chief of staff of the Guinea Conakry army has issued an unequivocal warning to his country’s soldiers who flood social media with images and videos to stop doing so immediately.
Brigadier General Balla Koivogui issued an order prohibiting the wearing of military uniforms in photos and videos posted on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and other social media platforms.
The Guinean army chief has warned that any soldier who violates the ban will face sanctions.
Brigadier General Balla Koivogui stated in his message that this decision aims to restore the image of the Guinean army. This is why the CDS “consistently” orders that “military personnel are strictly prohibited from taking photos in uniform and posting them on social networks” beginning November 11, 2023. (Facebook, YouTube, etc.). The order also applies to women in uniform on Tiktok and other social media platforms.
“Any soldier who violates these prohibitions faces serious sanctions,” says the Guinean Army’s commander, who orders unit commanders to use troop rallies to widely disseminate the new instructions.
