Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR) – Djibril Agil Sylla, a blogger from Guinea recently sentenced for an illegal stay in Senegal, has been arrested once more by Senegalese police shortly after his release on Tuesday night.
According to his attorney, Djibril Agil Sylla’s arrest is believed to be linked to the Guinean junta’s efforts to repatriate him to Conakry, with the cooperation of the new Senegalese authorities.
Attorney Amadou Aly Kane has confirmed that Interpol Guinea requested assistance from Senegalese authorities in repatriating the activist.
Despite efforts by his attorney to obtain more information and secure his release, Djibril Agil Sylla remains in custody. The lawyer says Senegal’s Minister of the Interior controls his client’s destiny and has the authority to order his removal from the country at any time.
Djibril Agil Sylla was initially sentenced for an unauthorized stay in Senegal and fined fifty thousand CFA francs.
His attorney is contesting the court’s ruling, citing concerns for Sylla’s safety in Guinea due to his critical stance against the military junta.
