Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – Police have launched a criminal investigation into a disturbing knife assault involving a three-year-six-month-old child in Gunjur, who sustained a deep cut to her neck.

According to preliminary findings, the young victim, S.K, informed her mother that she was attacked with a knife by Ndey Hoja Jobe, the daughter of Soda Secka.

While receiving treatment at the hospital, S.K again identified Jobe as the person responsible for the injury in the presence of Soda Secka.

However, police allege that Soda Secka concealed this crucial information, confiding only in her sister, Ndey Fatou Khan. In the aftermath of the attack, the suspect reportedly fled the home and was sheltered by Ndey Fatou Khan for three days.

Both women were arrested and charged with concealment and accessory after the fact. They are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

In a significant development, the prime suspect, Ndey Hoja Jobe, was brought to the police station earlier today, Tuesday, July 8, 2025. During questioning, conducted in the presence of her parent, Jobe reportedly confessed to the assault.

She told officers that on Friday, June 27, 2025, while watching movies on a tablet, she retrieved a stainless-steel blade from a window, forced the toddler to the ground, and deliberately cut her neck.

The police have reaffirmed their commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals, especially children, and warned that anyone found aiding suspects or obstructing justice will face severe legal consequences.

Authorities also urged parents to exercise vigilance and responsibility in safeguarding their children.
