Gambian in Malta Accused of Attempted Arson and Violent Behavior

Bubakar Kandeh, a 27-year-old restaurant worker from the Gambia living in Birkirkara, Malta, was arraigned before magistrate Noel Bartolo on Friday, facing charges of attempted arson, causing fear of violence, making a loud disturbance at night, being drunk and unable to take care of himself in public, attacking others with intent to annoy or harm them, uttering insults or threats, and causing criminal damage.

EU External Partners Address Ongoing Challenges in North Africa and the Middle East

Sub-Saharan migrants protested against long waiting periods and Libyan military treatment at the UNHCR office in Zarzis, holding banners demanding UN protection and urging Tunisian guards not to hand refugees to the Libyan military.

One of the protestors,  a 16-year-old Gambian migrant called Ousman, reported the violent raids and inhumane treatment that the migrants had been enduring at the hands of Tunisian guards.
