GCCPC Brings On Gambian Consumer Rights Issues on World Consumer Rights Day

Activist Criticizes Supreme Islamic Council’s Fatwa on Female Circumcision

Gambiaj.com – In a Facebook post, activist Madi Jobarted has criticized the Supreme Islamic Council’s fatwa on female circumcision issiued Thursday, calling it a perpetuation of violence against women in the interest of patriarchy. Jobarted argued that the fatwa does not serve the best interest of Islam or Muslim girls and women, but rather serves the interest of men hiding behind religion.
