Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – Nabou Léye, a popular actress from the Senegalese series “Emprise,” has been remanded to the Camp Penal prison in Liberté 6, Dakar, following her indictment by the investigating judge of the 2nd cabinet of the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court. She faces serious criminal charges, including being a member of a criminal association and complicity in the barbaric double murder case of Aziz Dabala and Boubacar Gano from Pikine Technopole.
According to the Senegalse daily L’Observateur, Léye is now housed in room 5 of the Camp Penal prison, where she shares a cell with 10 other women. The actress, reportedly on her first-ever prison stay, received a warm welcome from her fellow inmates upon her arrival on Wednesday. Some inmates eagerly sought to meet the woman who has been at the center of recent news, while others greeted her with calmness and serenity.
L’Observateur details that Léye’s new cellmates offered her words of support, emphasizing that prison is a part of life and that no one can escape their destiny. Despite this, Léye remained withdrawn, spending her first night in a state of deep contemplation, unable to sleep.
The following morning, at 9 a.m., prison guards escorted her to the social assistance department, where she was briefed on the internal regulations of the facility. For security reasons, the guards also undid Léye’s braids to ensure no prohibited items, such as needles, blades, or drugs, were hidden within them.
Later, in a moment described as emotional, Léye was allowed to make a call to her family. The ongoing investigation and the actress’s remand mark a significant development in the high-profile double murder case that has gripped the Senegalese nation.
