The center, proposed at the 13th Islamic Summit in Türkiye in 2016 and officially adopted during the 15th Islamic Summit held in Banjul, aims to strengthen cooperation and support capacity-building activities among OIC member countries.
It will serve as a central hub for collaboration on various law enforcement issues, including counterterrorism, organized crime, and cyber security.
Inspector General Touray expressed optimism about the center’s impact on strengthening police cooperation within the OIC. He highlighted the importance of working together to address common security challenges and build a safer future for member countries.
The establishment of the OIC Centre for Police Cooperation and Coordination reflects the commitment of OIC member countries to enhancing security cooperation and combating shared threats through collective action.
