Gambiaj.com – (Banjul, the Gambia)- The Gambia Immigration Department (GID), on 16th and 17th September 2025, in a statement revealed that it has received two separate court orders from the Brikama Magistrates Court to deport a total of one hundred and one (101) convicted foreign nationals for violating the laws of the country.
The GID said these orders include community citizens from the Gambia Police Force (GPF), in
alignment with two separate court verdicts issued by the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on 15th
September 2025.
“The convicts, including Chinese, Nigerians, and Vietnamese, were charged and convicted for
“unlawful possession of devices and data, and computer-related extortion, fraud and forgery”
contrary to Sections 168 and 173 of the Information and Communications Act,” GID revealed.
GID further said that the court ordered them to confine the convicts in a secure place at their own
expense and facilitate deportation procedures to their country of origin within 10 days, in line
with Part VII, sections 15 and 16 of the Immigration Act 1965, as amended.
“The GID is swiftly facilitating all travel logistics at the expense of the convicts, reclaiming
their personal belongings specified by the court order from relevant authorities, and
implementing due diligence in enrolling all convicts to the Migration Information and Data
Analysis System (MIDAS), before the completion of removal procedures,” GID said in a
statement.
The GID reaffirms its commitment to operating within the confines of the law and extends
gratitude to the Gambia Police Force for the strong inter-agency cooperation in promoting peace
and national security.
