Gambiaj.com – (TEHRAN, Iran) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, has called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take urgent action to prevent what he described as an orchestrated plan to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza.

In a telephone conversation on Sunday night with his Gambian counterpart, Mamadou Tangara, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the OIC, Araghchi condemned the alleged US-Israeli scheme to expel Palestinians from the war-torn enclave. He described the plan as “dangerous, criminal, and inhuman,” asserting that it violates international law and fundamental humanitarian principles.

The Iranian top diplomat stressed the need for a unified and forceful response from the international community, urging OIC member states to convene an emergency meeting of their foreign ministers to address the crisis. He emphasized that discussions with the OIC secretary general and other Arab and Muslim leaders underscored the necessity of immediate diplomatic intervention.

For his part, Gambian Foreign Minister Mamadou Tangara welcomed Iran’s concerns and acknowledged the urgency of the Palestinian plight. He expressed support for the proposal to convene an OIC ministerial meeting and pledged to consult with other member states to facilitate its organization.

The call comes amid President Donald Trump’s announced plan to seize the Palestinian region of Gaza and evict its natives from their homeland. Meanwhile, tensions remain high in Gaza, with growing international scrutiny over the humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict.

Iran’s push for OIC intervention reflects broader regional efforts to mobilize diplomatic pressure against Israel and its allies. It remains to be seen whether the OIC will heed Tehran’s call and take collective action in response to the situation in Gaza.
