Gambiaj.com – (Banjul, The Gambia) – The Managing Director of Jah Oil Company, Hamidou Jah, has been ordered by the Banjul High Court to present original documents pertaining to his company’s transactions with GACH Global Company and Gam-Petroleum. This significant development comes as the court delves into a civil suit where GACH Global alleges a multi-million dalasi fraud.
Justice Ebrima Jaiteh issued the directive in a ruling in the ongoing case initiated by GACH Global against Khadijatou Kebbeh and Saihou Drammeh.
GACH Global is seeking to reclaim D58,961,150, which they claim was fraudulently obtained by the two defendants in connection with payments for petroleum products supplied by Gam-Petroleum.
The case has drawn considerable attention, particularly given the prominent entities involved. GACH Global is a significant player in The Gambia’s business landscape, with diverse interests, while Jah Oil Company is one of the country’s leading petroleum distributors.
Gam-Petroleum, as the state petroleum company, holds a crucial position in the nation’s energy sector.
Mr. Jah is specifically mandated to produce several key documents. These include a letter from Jah Oil Company addressed to the board chairman of Gam-Petroleum, receipts from GACH Global Trading Company Limited amounting to D10 million, and a letter originating from the board chairman of Gam-Petroleum.
These documents are expected to provide crucial insights into the financial dealings between the companies that form the crux of GACH Global’s claim.
The two individuals at the center of GACH Global’s allegations are Khadijatou Kebbeh, identified as a former employee of GACH Global, and Saihou Drammeh, who previously served as the head of Gam-Petroleum.
Their past roles in these organizations are central to the allegations of fraudulent acquisition of funds related to petroleum product payments.
The court’s order for Mr. Jah to produce these sensitive financial records underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the court’s intent to thoroughly examine the transactions.
The matter is scheduled to resume on June 25th, when Mr. Jah is expected to present the requested documents to the High Court.
The outcome of this case could have significant implications for the individuals and companies involved, as well as for transparency in the country’s petroleum sector.
