Jolof

Gambiaj.com – (Banjul, the Gambia)- The Jollof Football Bantaba Team of the Month lineup takes shape in an attacking 3-4-3 formation featuring some of the Scorpions’ finest performers for club and country.

Goalkeeper

Baboucarr Gaye (Shekendija) keeps his place for the third month running after impressing for both club and country. The Scorpions’ No.1 has gone from strength to strength since recovering from a serious knee injury. Gaye recorded four clean sheets in six outings in September. He conceded just two goals and kept his first clean sheet for the scorpions under Jonny’s tenure.

Defence

Maudo Jarju (Struga) continued his outstanding form for league leaders Struga. He played four games during the month and helped the club to three wins and two clean sheets.

Alagie Saine (Horsens) was one of Gambia’s best performers during the September international fixtures while playing every minute and winning the penalty that opened the scoring in the 2-0 win against Burundi. For Horsens, Saine played two games, keeping a clean sheet and assisting one goal.

Omar Colley (Al Diriyah) led the Scorpions to back-to-back wins in the September international fixtures — the first under coach Jonny. He carried that form into club football, guiding his new side to an unbeaten month in the Saudi Division One while playing every minute for both club and country. Across five matches, Colley conceded just one goal and helped his team register four clean sheets.

Muhammed Sanneh (Abdysh Ata) played a part in the scorpions’ wins over Kenya and Burundi while being sick. At club level, Sanneh helped his side record three wins in four matches, chipping in with a goal and an assist in the process.

Tijan Sohna (Beroe) earns his first inclusion in the Jollof Football Bantaba Team of the Month after a blistering start to life in Bulgaria. The Spanish-born Gambian left-back has been ever-present since making his competitive debut in Week 2 of the league, starting every game for Beroe. In September, he played a key role in helping the team maintain an unbeaten run without conceding a single goal.

Midfield

Abubakar Barry (Austria Vienna) may have been disappointed by his limited involvement during the September international break, but he quickly transformed that frustration into motivation upon returning to club duty. Since then, he has delivered three outstanding performances for Austria Vienna, leading the team to three consecutive victories while contributing two goals and an assist.

Alieu Fadera (Sassuolo) delivered his best performance yet in Gambian colors during the September international window, scoring the opener and setting up the second in the Scorpions’ 2–0 win over Burundi. Upon returning to club duty, he opened his account for his new side with the decisive goal in the victory over Lazio. He capped off the month with a brilliant assist in Sassuolo’s 3–1 win against Udinese.

Yankuba Minteh (Brighton) picked up in September right where he left off in August, delivering a Man of the Match performance for the Scorpions against Kenya. After the international break, he continued to prove why he’s been Brighton’s main attacking outlet this season, contributing either a goal or an assist in every match throughout the month. He capped off the month with an all-round display in the win over Chelsea and earned himself a nomination for the Premier Player of the Month.

Musa Barrow (Al Taawoun) was the standout performer in September, earning himself the Jollof Football Bantaba Player of the Month award as voted by our followers. The Gambian forward enjoyed a blistering start to the season, scoring six goals and providing four assists for club and country while collecting several Man of the Match honors along the way. Impressively, his team won all six matches he featured in, with Barrow consistently delivering decisive, match-winning contributions.

Striker

Salieu Drammeh (Lillestrom) and his side are on a 14-game winning streak with Drammeh playing an integral role in the run, scoring five goals and providing seven assists. This impressive run has seen Lillestrom clinch the Norwegian second-tier title and gain promotion back to the Eliteserien with six games to spare. In September, Drammeh scored two and assisted two in three starts.
