Kalagi

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gmbia) – The Gambia Police Force has launched an investigation into a case of alleged robbery at the Younna Forex Bureau Office in Kalagi Village, which has now been revealed as a cover-up for financial misconduct.

According to a police statement, initial reports received on April 25, 2025, indicated that Amadou Jawo, a 28-year-old microfinance operator, was found lying inside his office with his mouth tied using plastic.

He was immediately escorted to the Sintet Health Center and later referred to Bwiam General Hospital, where medical examinations confirmed that he had sustained no injuries.

However, subsequent investigations uncovered that the robbery had been staged. Authorities found that Jawo allegedly orchestrated the incident to conceal financial mismanagement involving a sum of D140,000.

Further police inquiries revealed that Jawo was allegedly assisted by Alieu Sanyang, a resident of Kalagi Village, who is currently at large.

Jawo is now in police custody and cooperating with investigators. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to trace and apprehend Sanyang.

The Gambia Police Force has reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring that justice is served. They have also called on anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Alieu Sanyang to report to the nearest police station as the investigation continues.
