The Sierra Leone Ministry of Health Burial Team, Ivorian Sillahs “Say No To Drugs”, and the Barrie Help Foundation buried 32 unidentified people in Kingtom Cemetery on March 14, 2024. For all 32 of them, Kush ingestion was determined to be the cause of death.
The information was confirmed by Mr. Sinneh Kamara, the head of the burial team. He mentioned that there were seven females and twenty-five males deceased.
The funeral costs were paid for by funds from the Barrie Help Foundation.
These people’s final resting places are currently in the Kingtom Cemetery, a sobering reminder of the terrible effects drug misuse has on communities.
The alarming trend of Kush-related deaths in Sierra Leone has prompted the Ministry of Health to launch a nationwide campaign to educate the public about the dangers of this potent drug. The Ivorian Sillahs have also pledged their support for spreading awareness and providing assistance to those struggling with addiction. Additionally, the Barrie Help Foundation is working tirelessly to provide resources and support for families affected by these tragic losses. Together, these organizations are determined to combat the spread of Kush and prevent further deaths in the community.
Thoughts of the larger issues raised by drug use and trafficking should be given consideration while the country grieves the loss of these people.
