Laminkoto Soldiers Foil Armed Robbery, Arrest Suspect in Kuntaur Fula Kunda Attack

Gambiaj.com – (LAMINKOTO, The Gambia) – In a swift overnight operation, personnel of the 2nd Infantry Battalion stationed at the Laminkoto Military Base in the Central River Region South have arrested a suspected armed robber following a violent attack in Kuntaur Fula Kunda.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, October 22, around 3:00 a.m., when gunshots were heard in the area. A soldier on official pass promptly alerted the Laminkoto base, prompting an immediate response led by Major Malick Boye.

Upon arrival at the scene, the soldiers pursued and apprehended one Musa Njie, a native of Totten village. He was found in possession of a locally made gun and a quantity of suspected cannabis sativa.

According to preliminary reports, the robbery targeted a local businessman, Alagie Kawsu Kebba Jaiteh, who was severely assaulted during the incident and suffered two broken teeth. The attackers reportedly made away with his safe, containing an undisclosed amount of valuables.

The suspect has been handed over to the Kuntaur Police Station for further investigation and possible prosecution, while the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) continues efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover the stolen items.

Authorities praised the swift response of the military unit, which led to the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of the weapon and illicit substances.

The GAF has reiterated its commitment to working closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of communities across the country.
