The Secretariat of the Paris Pact is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Macky Sall, who has been designated by French President Emmanuel Macron to lead the institution. President Sall will assume his new role as special envoy of the Paris Pact for People and Planet (4P) in a few weeks, immediately after stepping down from office on April 2, according to a presidential source.
“In a video conference this morning with the head of state, the 4P secretariat expressed impatience. The working session focused on President Macky Sall’s agenda and the challenges he is expected to face,” the source said.
President Macky Sall was appointed as the special envoy of the Paris Pact for People and Planet (4P) during the opening ceremony of the 6th Paris Peace Forum on Friday, November 10, by President Emmanuel Macron.
“In a few months, President Macky Sall will end his second term, and I really want to salute his courage, his commitment, and the exemplary leadership he shows on the African continent. He has decided that democracy will be exercised as it should be, and that there will be competitors, they are numerous. When there are statesmen and committed individuals, they move forward and protect their country from the troubles and vicissitudes of the moment. At the end of his presidential term, he accepted to take on the responsibility of Special Envoy of the 4P and to chair this monitoring committee…,” President Emmanuel Macron announced in his speech.
President Macky Sall, in turn, expressed his gratitude to President Emmanuel Macron for the invitation to the Paris Forum and accepted the proposal to be the Special Envoy of the Paris Pact for People and Planet (4P).
“I thank President Emmanuel Macron for his invitation to the Paris Forum. Before partner countries and institutions, I gladly accepted his proposal to be the Special Envoy of the Paris Pact for People and Planet (4P), in order to assist in the implementation, with the assistance of the OECD Secretariat, of the Conclusions of the Paris Summit of June 2023 for a new global financial pact,” said President Macky Sall.
The Secretariat of the Paris Pact is looking forward to President Sall’s tenure as special envoy and the contributions he will make to the implementation of the pact’s goals and objectives.
