The recent ruling by the Senegalese Constitutional Court, canceling President Macky Sall’s delay of the February 25th presidential election, has been met with relief across Senegal, even within the President’s own family.
Aliou Sall, President Macky Sall’s brother and former Mayor of Guediawaye, expressed his relief and support for the court’s decision, calling it the best decision for Senegal.
In a statement on his social media account, Aliou Sall said, “Al Hamdoulilahi! The Constitutional Council has taken the best decision for Senegal.”
He called on the entire Republican family, from both the left and the right, to support their candidate, Amadou Ba, in the upcoming election.
Aliou Sall emphasized the importance of investing in the electoral ground and campaigning for their candidate as the only way to preserve President Macky Sall’s heroic legacy.
The ruling has not only relieved many Senegalese but also appears to have united political factions in support of a smooth and timely election process.
