Malawi’s President, Lazarus Chakwera, received letters of credence on Tuesday from Dr. Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay, the Gambia’s non-resident diplomatic envoy to Lilongwe, who is now based in Pretoria.
After presenting her letters of credence to President Chakwera, Gambia’s High Commissioner to Malawi, Dr. Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay, complimented the president for his commitment to promoting women to higher public posts.
High Commissioner Ceesay stated that Gambia is prepared to work with Malawi to address the country’s housing issues. She also expressed Gambia’s eagerness to collaborate with Malawi in the fields of mining, oil, and agriculture.
“We would love to have more students coming to Malawi to study agriculture,” she added. High Commissioner Ceesay expressed optimism about the future of Malawi-Gambia relations, reiterated her dedication to enhancing cooperation between the two countries, and extended an invitation to President Chakwera to visit Gambia.
President Chakwera thanked and welcomed Dr. Fatoumatta Jahumpa Ceesay. He emphasized his readiness to explore opportunities for mutual benefit and growth, and welcomed the prospect of future collaboration between Malawi and the Gambia.
