Gambiaj.com – (VALLETTA, Malta) – Maltese police have arrested Camara Sambou, a 26-year-old Gambian national, after he was allegedly caught attempting to sell drugs in Paceville, a bustling nightlife hub known for its bars, pubs, and music clubs.

According to police reports, two constables on patrol in Triq Santu Wistin noticed Sambou loitering outside an establishment. When they approached him, he attempted to dispose of a packet by throwing it under a car.

Upon searching the packet, officers discovered sachets containing substances suspected to be cocaine and cannabis, allegedly pre-packaged for sale.

Sambou reportedly resisted arrest, leading to a struggle in which one of the officers sustained minor injuries.

The accused appeared in court on Sunday before Magistrate Abigail Critien, facing charges of drug trafficking, resisting arrest, and injuring a police officer. He pleaded not guilty, but since his defense did not request bail, he was remanded in custody.

Inspector Mark Cremona, leading the case, stated that Sambou was found in possession of illicit substances on February 14, within 100 meters of an area frequented by young people. He is accused of trafficking narcotics and leading a vagrant lifestyle.

The case continues as investigations proceed.
