Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, Wife of Slain Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei, Dies After Coma

Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh was the wife of Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran.

Gambiaj.com – (TEHRAN, Iran) – Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, the wife of Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has died after slipping into a coma following injuries sustained during joint Israeli and American strikes on the Iranian leadership compound.

Bagherzadeh passed away on Monday, days after the early morning attacks of Saturday, February 28, which claimed the life of Khamenei and several other senior figures of the Islamic Republic.

Khamenei, who had led Iran since 1989, was reportedly struck during coordinated operations by the United States and Israel targeting the Leadership Residence.

Iranian state media earlier confirmed that his daughter, son-in-law, grandchild, and one daughter-in-law were also killed in the same strikes, underscoring the scale of the losses within the ruling family.

Bagherzadeh had been critically injured in the assault and was placed in intensive care. Sources said she never regained consciousness.

Born into a prominent religious family in the northeastern city of Mashhad, Bagherzadeh was the daughter of Mohammad Esmaeil Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, a well-known businessman in the city. She was also the sister of Hassan Khojaste Bagherzadeh, a former deputy director of Iran’s state broadcaster.

She first met Khamenei during a private ceremony in 1964, and the couple married in May, a year later. Their marriage sermon was officiated by Ayatollah Mohammad Hadi Milani, a respected cleric of the time.

Over the course of their marriage, they had six children – four sons, Mostafa, Mojtaba, Masoud, and Meysam; and two daughters, Boshra and Hoda.

Though largely absent from public life, Bagherzadeh was regarded as a central figure within the Supreme Leader’s household, maintaining a low profile while raising their family during decades marked by political upheaval, revolution, and regional conflict.

Her death marks the latest chapter in a dramatic escalation that has reshaped Iran’s political landscape and left the country confronting both leadership uncertainty and heightened regional tensions.
