Gambiaj.com – Baltimore County police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of 22-year-old Ebrima Loppy in Edgewood, an incident authorities say stemmed from a dispute and was isolated in nature.

According to a police news release, the stabbing occurred at about 4:05 a.m. on Monday in the 1700 block of Edgewood Road. Officers responding to a “check location” call found both the victim and the suspect at the scene. Loppy had sustained a stab wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the location.

Police later identified the suspect as Mohammad Jeng. Charging documents indicate that Jeng told investigators he stabbed Loppy in the neck during an argument, claiming he acted in self-defense. Formal charges are pending as detectives continue their investigation.

Baltimore County police said preliminary findings suggest the killing resulted from a dispute between the two men and does not pose an ongoing threat to the wider community.

The incident shocked residents in the area, where Loppy was found outside homes along a busy road, prompting police to cordon off the neighborhood during the investigation. Community members expressed concern and sympathy for the victim’s family.

I just feel bad for their family,” said Kristian Caswell, who grew up in the Knettishall area near the Parkville–Towson line. “I wish them all the best, and I pray for everybody else out here to stay safe.”

Authorities have urged anyone with additional information related to the case to contact Baltimore County police as the investigation continues.
