Gambiaj.com – (DAKAR, Senegal) – In the gruesome double murder of Aziz Dabala and Waly that has sent shockwaves across Senegal and beyond, seven individuals have been arrested and charged in connection with the case. The accused, including Nabou Lèye, Mamadou Lamine Diaw, Serigne Sarr, Oumar Guèye, Assane Diaw, Ousseynou Diaw, and Fallou Diop, are now under investigation for their alleged roles in the horrific crime.
The investigation, led by local authorities, has uncovered damning evidence against Mamadou Lamine Diaw. Witness testimonies and forensic evidence have placed Diaw at the center of the crime. His clothes were found stained with blood, and he was reportedly seen leaving the scene wearing a “Jellaba” belonging to one of the victims, Abdou Aziz Ba. Pressured by his accomplice, Fallou Diop, Diaw initially attempted to shift blame onto his uncle, Ousseynou Diaw. However, his younger brother, Assane Diaw, later implicated him further.
During interrogation, Mamadou Lamine Diaw admitted that he did not act alone, describing the crime as a “punitive expedition gone wrong.” He denied being the one who handed over the murder weapon, instead implicating others in the plot. Investigators have also traced the phone of Oumar Guèye to the crime scene, raising further suspicion of his involvement.
One of the most disturbing revelations involves Nabou Lèye, whose actions have drawn significant attention from investigators. Lèye made an intriguing phone call to Diaw shortly after the murders, and geolocation data suggests she may have played a pivotal role in the crime. Authorities suspect that Lèye “delivered” Aziz Dabala to his killers before feigning shock at discovering his lifeless body. On the day of the crime, Lèye was in contact with the murderers until the early hours of the morning.
Given the close relationship between Aziz Dabala and Nabou Lèye, Aziz Dabala’s mother has told investigators that she refuses to believe Nabou Lèye could be involved in his murder, especially since Lèye used to affectionately refer to him as “father.”
The investigation has also revealed the involvement of Diaw and his accomplices in withdrawing money from the accounts of the victims using their Wave accounts. This led to their arrest at a multi-service shop in Guinaw Rails, where they were identified by the shop managers.
All seven suspects are now facing serious charges and have been remanded. Mamadou Lamine Diaw has been imprisoned for murder with acts of barbarity and theft, while the others are charged with complicity in murder with acts of barbarity and concealment. The case remains under investigation, with the suspects targeted for criminal conspiracy. The community awaits justice for the heinous crime that has left many in fear and disbelief.
