Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – In a call for unity and peace, former Deputy Governor of West Coast Region, Musa Suso, has appealed to President Adama Barrow to mend fences with his former political leader, the now opposition UDP head Ousainu Darboe. Suso’s appeal was made during an interview with The Standard on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, a significant Muslim feast.
Suso emphasized that reconciliation between Barrow and Darboe would alleviate much of the current and potential future political tensions in The Gambia. He advised President Barrow to focus on pressing national issues and refrain from making unnecessary political comments that could provoke responses from the opposition.
“Some of the remarks Barrow and Darboe made against each other should not happen, and I discourage it in totality. In fact, all political parties should avoid toxic language,” Suso stated.
He further reflected on the imperfection of humans and the unpredictable nature of fate, urging all political figures to be cautious in their actions and words. Suso commended President Barrow for convening a national dialogue recently, describing it as a positive step towards unity. He encouraged the President to maintain this spirit of inclusivity and dialogue for the betterment of the nation.
As The Gambia continues its journey towards peace and stability, Suso’s call for reconciliation underscores the importance of unity among political leaders in fostering a harmonious and progressive society.
