Harriet King, the newly appointed British High Commissioner to The Gambia, has shared views with the Vice President of The Gambia on ways to improve on some specific areas of cooperation with Banjul. Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow received a courtesy call from Harriet King on Monday at his State House office.
The State House media staff reported that the British envoy and Vice President Jallow had productive talks, emphasizing the strong partnership between the UK and The Gambia.
The British High Commissioner presented insights into specific areas of support provided by the UK, including help to the judicial sector, coordination with the armed forces, and the developing partnership between the two nations in defense affairs.
They also talked about the strong connections between the two nations’ educational systems, highlighting the value of UK scholarships for Gambian students and exploring more general subjects like women’s empowerment and climate change.
Vice President Jallow gave Harriet King the assurance that President Adama Barrow and the Gambia administration would support her efforts to deepen the relationship between their two countries.
He also remembered the crowning of King Charles and the cordial greeting he received from UK ministers and members of the royal family.
