Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – Residents of seven African countries — the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote D’Ivoire, Gabon, Gambia, Madagascar, Mauritius, and Seychelles — can now apply for UK visas through new Visa Application Centres launched by VFS Global, enhancing convenience and accessibility for travelers.
Effective October 22, 2024, these centres will provide a streamlined application process, allowing applicants to book appointments, access optional services, and submit their visa applications in a modern, user-friendly setting.
Travelers will now need to visit VFS Global’s website to secure an appointment as part of the UK visa process. Additionally, they will have access to a variety of support services aimed at simplifying the application process. Optional services include document upload assistance, SMS notifications, document checking, and a “Prime Time” option for submitting applications outside of standard business hours. Passports can also be couriered back to applicants once a decision has been made.
A unique “Keep My Passport While Applying” service is also available for residents of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cote D’Ivoire, Gambia, Madagascar, and Mauritius, allowing them to retain their passports until the final visa decision, after which they need only resubmit their passports for stamping.
The new centres represent a significant expansion in VFS Global’s partnership with UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI), which began in 2003. Marc Owen, UKVI’s Director for Visa, Status, and Information Services, described the launch as “an exciting milestone in the provision of a world-class UK visa service,” emphasizing the UK’s commitment to improving accessibility and efficiency for visa applicants.
Alok Singhal, Head of Sub-Saharan Africa for VFS Global, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the organization’s dedication to “bringing best-in-class services to travelers” and noting VFS Global’s long-standing relationship with UKVI. The company, which previously served UK visa applicants in 58 countries, now operates in 142 countries under the expanded contract, including 31 across Africa.
Travelers can explore these services and book appointments through the official website, www.VFSGlobal.com, or directly at the Visa Application Centre during their visit. The optional services have no impact on visa processing times or application outcomes, ensuring a smooth and transparent experience for applicants.
