Newcastle Fans Buzzing and Eying Gambian Lionel Messi’s Return for Right-wing Spot

Minteh Feynoord

Gambiaj.com – (NEWCASTLE) – In a thrilling match against NEC Nijmegen, Yankuba Minteh scored his 10th goal of the season for Feyenoord, cementing his place as a standout player. Minteh, who was signed by Newcastle United for £7 million last summer from Odense Boldklub, has been on loan at Feyenoord, where he has impressed with 16 goal contributions, Champions League appearances, and a cup-final win.

Despite Feyenoord’s interest in extending his loan, Minteh has expressed his desire for a long-term career in the Premier League. NewcastleWorld reports that fans are eager to see Minteh in the first-team ranks for the 2024-25 season, with some comparing him to the “Gambian Lionel Messi.”

Newcastle fans online have praised Minteh’s performances, with some suggesting he is already a better fit for the right-wing spot than current players Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy. This position is reportedly high on Newcastle’s shopping list for the summer transfer window.

With Feyenoord’s manager, Arne Slot, set to take charge at Liverpool, more fans believe this could be an opportunity to keep Minteh at Newcastle. One comment labelled him the “Gambian Lionel Messi” after he netted against NEC.

Another suggested Slot’s expected Liverpool arrival should be a reason to keep him on Tyneside. The post read: “Another man-of-the-match performance for Yankuba Minteh.

“Personally, I’d bring him back in next season, especially with Slot moving on. It’ll not be the same under new management.”

One fan insisted that Minteh already looks “better than Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy” for the right-wing spot. The position is thought to be high on Newcastle’s shopping list ahead of the summer transfer window.

Eddie Howe, Newcastle’s manager, plans to assess Minteh during pre-season before deciding his next move.
