Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – In a recent incident that shocked the community, The Gambia Police Force announced the arrest of nineteen individuals implicated in the vandalism of the Ngain Sanjal Police Station and the assault on officers. The chaos erupted on Friday, June 21, 2024, when a group of villagers demanded the release of a suspect accused of the unusual crime of ‘snatching manhood.’
The conflict began when a group of villagers arrived at the Ngain Sanjal Police Station, insisting on the release of a suspect detained on charges of ‘snatching manhood.’ The police, adhering to their duty to uphold the law, refused to release the suspect. This refusal infuriated the crowd, leading them to retaliate by attacking the station.
During the altercation, the assailants caused significant damage, including the destruction of a television set, its receiver, the station’s diary, and other valuable items. Several officers sustained serious injuries and required immediate medical attention at Farafenni General Hospital.
In the aftermath of the violent attack, law enforcement officials launched an intensive investigation to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the destruction and assault. Through diligent efforts and cooperation with witnesses, the police successfully tracked down and arrested the nineteen individuals involved. The suspects are now in custody and awaiting trial for their actions.
The Gambia Police Force has strongly condemned the unruly and violent behavior displayed in Ngain Sanjal, emphasizing the importance of pursuing justice through lawful means.
