Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The National People’s Party (NPP) has formally requested its National Youth President, Kebba Madi Bojang, to explain his recent absences from critical party events and address allegations that he is involved in forming a new political party.
The party’s Deputy Spokesperson, Hon. Seedy Njie, confirmed that Bojang has been given a seven-day deadline to respond to these concerns.
“We wrote to him [Kebba Madi Bojang] to explain why he did not attend the NPP Fundraising Gala and the official opening of the party’s headquarters in Bundung,” Njie said. “We also want him to address circulating rumors that he is involved in the establishment of a new political party. He has been given the opportunity to clarify these matters within seven days.”
Njie added that if Bojang does not provide a response, the matter would be referred to the party’s National Executive for appropriate action.
Addressing the possibility of reconciliation, Njie emphasized that the NPP remains open to dialogue. “Every viable political party, including the NPP, engages both members and non-members. It is always our wish to see everyone remain in the party. We encourage unity, and we want those who have left—or are considering leaving—to return and continue working with us,” he said.
Regarding whether the party engaged Bojang privately before issuing the formal letter, Njie noted that the NPP has maintained and will continue to maintain engagement with Bojang and others. “Our desire is for everyone to remain within the NPP, and for those outside to join us as well,” he added.
Speculation has been rife that Bojang is linked to the formation of the National Democratic Party (NDP). However, he has yet to publicly respond to the allegations or the NPP’s letter.
