OIC Conference – President Barrow Preaches Peace Treaty Between Israel and Palestine

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – Gambian President Adama Barrow has urged for a peace treaty in Palestine rather than military action during the 15th Organization of Islamic Cooperation Conference (OIC) currently being held in the Gambia. He emphasized that military intervention is not a viable option and instead called for a two-state solution.

President Barrow highlighted the dangers of ongoing violence, instability, and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which pose threats to regional stability and global peace. He urged member states to take decisive action and convene a Comprehensive Peace Conference to negotiate a settlement that safeguards the rights, dignity, security, and sovereignty of the affected populations.

The President underscored that by recognizing a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with its capital in Al-Quds Al-Shareef, The Gambia reaffirms the importance of enabling the Palestinian people to reclaim their legitimate national rights, as acknowledged by the international community.

“It is imperative to address the longstanding conflict in Palestine and the devastating wars in Gaza. These conflicts have caused unending human suffering for over seventy-five (75) years,” he stated.

President Barrow affirmed The Gambia’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in conflict-affected regions, advocating for diplomatic solutions, and providing humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinians, a sentiment echoed by the Muslim Ummah and the global community.

He assured OIC members that through proactive engagement and meaningful dialogue, they can foster unity and solidarity among member states, based on a shared vision of a peaceful, prosperous, and fair future for all.
