Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) contact group on Jammu and Kashmir has reiterated its call for an early and peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute.
The group convened in Banjul, The Gambia, on the sidelines of the 15th Islamic Summit of the OIC, where participating delegations from various member states expressed solidarity with the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for self-determination, as outlined in relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.
Led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Pakistan delegation highlighted India’s actions in Kashmir, accusing the Indian government of disempowering the Kashmiri community and violating their fundamental rights.
Dar emphasized that India’s policies in the region have created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, aimed at suppressing dissent.
Dar also urged the international community to take note of provocative statements made by Indian leaders regarding Azad Jammu and Kashmir, warning that such rhetoric poses a serious threat to regional peace.
The OIC contact group’s meeting serves as a reminder of the ongoing tensions in Jammu and Kashmir and the need for a peaceful and just resolution to the conflict. The group’s efforts aim to draw international attention to the plight of the Kashmiri people and to support their right to self-determination.
