Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha met with the President of The Gambia Adama Barrow on Friday, on the sidelines of the 15th Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul.
The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between The Gambia and the OIC, particularly regarding the final preparations for the Summit of OIC leaders scheduled for May 4-5, 2024.
Themed “Enhancing Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development,” the summit will address crucial regional and international issues pertinent to OIC Member States.
During the meeting, Secretary-General Taha commended The Gambia for its exceptional preparations and facilities for hosting the summit, expressing the OIC’s commitment to ensuring its success. He also praised President Barrow for The Gambia’s active engagement within the Organization.
As The Gambia assumes the chairmanship of the 15th Islamic Summit, President Barrow reiterated his dedication to advancing the OIC’s agenda and fostering unity among Member States.
He affirmed The Gambia’s commitment to the principles and objectives of the OIC, emphasizing collaboration among Member States to tackle shared challenges.
