Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, the leader of the United Democratic Party, has stated that Barrow’s claims about him or his party should not be taken as truth by anyone. Ousainou Darboe was speaking on Saturday to a gathering of his militants at the UDP political Bureau in Manjai.
“In politics, someone can be your friend today and your adversary tomorrow. But what I am grateful in that Adama Barrow cannot say anything about me or the UDP that anyone would accept as the blanket truth, no!” he stated.
Darboe advised that people who have left the Yellow Party will one day find their way back to UDP. He also urged his party militants not to speak ill of their comrades who left the party.
Meanwhile, Darboe, whose party continues to be criticized by his opponents as a tribal party, called on Gambians to be united.
“We need a unified Gambia where all tribes are seen as equal in all aspects,” Darboe told his party supporters who visited him at the party Bureau in Manjai over the weekend.
According to him, if Gambians wanted to categorize each other based on tribe, he wouldn’t have become a politician.
“Because I love my wives so much and I am not of the same tribe as them, if I were to favor only the Mandinka tribe in this country, I don’t think I could do so with my wives,” said the UDP Leader.
Darboe called on all Gambians to work together to make Gambia an exceptional country.
