In related developments, the announcement of President Faye’s new cabinet members is expected in the coming hours. Additionally, the head of state reappointed the minister as secretary-general of the Presidency of the Republic. Oumar Samba Ba retains his position which he has held since 2020.
Meanwhile, Mary Teuw Niane, the former Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation from 2012 to 2019, has been appointed as the Minister and Chief of Staff for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. This appointment marks a significant transition for Mr. Niane, leveraging his extensive experience in government to serve at the heart of the President’s administration.
Additionally, Colonel Pape Birane Dièye, former chief of staff of the chief of general staff of the Senegalese armies, has been appointed as the new aide-de-camp of President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye.
Colonel Dièye, who replaces General Meissa Cellé Ndiaye, brings a wealth of experience from his military background, having commanded various units and held positions of responsibility within the general staff of the armed forces.
