Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – Gambian political commentator and politician Pa Njie Girigara has released a lengthy audio message asserting that President Adama Barrow is poised to win the December 2026 presidential election “without any serious challenge.”

Speaking on Friday, Pa Njie Girigara told his listeners, “Peace be upon you, Gambia. Today is Friday, the 5th of December, 2025. Eleven months from now we will go to the elections in 2026. The political landscape has changed, but in reality we are still living in 2016.

He argued that many Gambians have forgotten the political dynamics of the past, recalling that between 1996 and 2016 a single leader thwarted all attempts to form a unified opposition front. He pointed to 2011, when Ousainou Darboe and Halifa Sallah sought to agree on a single opposition flagbearer but ultimately failed, partly because Darboe and his family were in Ghana at the time.

According to Pa Njie Girigara, the coalition that defeated former President Yahya Jammeh in 2016 succeeded only because several key figures stepped aside.

He claimed that, once Adama Barrow assumed office, some coalition partners were pushed out, including members of the GDC. “President Barrow removed people from the GDC because they wanted too much power,” he alleged.

He noted that in the 2021 presidential election, President Barrow secured more than 50 percent of the vote, with the UDP trailing in second place while the remaining candidates shared the rest. “The same thing will happen in 2026,” he said repeatedly.

Pa Njie Girigara also dismissed any emerging coalition efforts. “There is no coalition in The Gambia now. Everyone has to stand on their own. No one will vote for a P2S coalition or any other coalition. If you join a coalition today, your children and grandchildren will still vote for separate parties tomorrow,” he said.

He argued that only 800,000 to 900,000 Gambians will vote in 2026 and insisted that online commentary will have little bearing on the final outcome. “We can reach 10,000 or 5,000 people online, but we can only really speak on election day,” he said.

Describing politics as both a science and an art, Pa Njie Girigara reminded listeners of his previous forecasts, including what he said was his correct prediction of President Donald Trump’s election victory in the United States. “My political predictions do not lie. President Barrow will win again in 2026, God willing,” he declared.

He concluded his message with words of encouragement for President Barrow: “If you are afraid, you are not God’s child. Politics is about doing what you want. You will have a lot of support and trust for the next five years.”

The 20-minute audio message is already circulating widely on WhatsApp and Facebook across The Gambia.
