Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar of Pakistan has on Friday met with Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad Dr Mamadou Tangara during the 15th OIC Islamic Summit in Banjul, The Gambia. At the meeting, the two leaders signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Political Consultations, aiming to enhance dialogue and cooperation between their countries.
The MoU establishes a framework for regular discussions between the ministries of foreign affairs of Pakistan and The Gambia, aimed at bolstering their already strong ties based on religious affinities, mutual trust, and shared values. Deputy Prime Minister Dar praised the deep-rooted relations between the two nations and congratulated The Gambia on successfully hosting the OIC summit.
During the meeting, discussions covered various aspects of Pakistan-Gambia relations, with a focus on boosting cooperation in trade, agriculture, education, and tourism. The leaders also explored opportunities for collaboration in multilateral forums such as the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The signing of the MoU reflects the commitment of both countries to further deepen their relationship and enhance collaboration for mutual benefit. Pakistan and The Gambia have traditionally enjoyed friendly relations and continue to engage on political, economic, and multilateral issues. The MoU on Bilateral Political Consultations is expected to serve as a platform for sustained dialogue and engagement, contributing to the strengthening of their ties.
