Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) –The parliamentary commission investigating the sale of former President Yahya Jammeh’s assets has requested that Mr. Alieu Jallow provide all the phone numbers he has used since 2017. This marks his fourth appearance before the commission.
Hon. Alagie Mbow, a member of the committee, made the request clearly:
“Now, provide us with all the numbers you have used since 2017, whether you still use them or not.”
The commission is carefully checking the records of cattle sales and other assets connected to the former government. Members of parliament questioned Mr. Jallow about differences in the numbers reported and how the animals were classified. They stressed the need to review all communication and transaction records thoroughly.
Mr. Jallow, appearing before the commission for the fourth time, said he is willing to cooperate but noted some of the records are not complete because of difficulties in operations. He said,
“I am doing my best to provide everything, but some information is missing due to challenges in keeping records over the years.”
After the session, the commission announced a break in the hearings. Parliament will resume work on August 18.
This investigation is part of the country’s efforts to make sure there is transparency and accountability in managing state assets that were acquired during the former president’s time in office.
