Gambiaj.com – (KANIFING) – The Police Intervention Unit (PIU) recently held a grand ceremony at its headquarters to celebrate the promotion of officers, from Police Constable (PC) to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), marking a significant milestone in their careers.
The event, which took place on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, was attended by dignitaries including Mayor of KMC, CP Pateh Jallow, and other service chiefs. AIG Ebrima Bah, representing the Inspector General of Police, commended the promoted officers, emphasizing the true essence of policing as a service to one’s country marked by sacrifice and dedication.
“To whom much is given, much is expected,” AIG Bah reminded the officers, highlighting the importance of their new roles. He praised the PIU as an elite unit of professional officers with various specialties, relied upon by the GPF leadership in situations of crisis and emergencies.
Commissioner Adeline Basangeh of the PIU and Commissioner Lamin King Colley of Mobile Traffic also expressed gratitude to the police leadership for promoting over two hundred PIU officers and eighty-eight Mobile Traffic officers, respectively.
CP Basangeh emphasized the critical role of the PIU in maintaining peace and security, calling on the newly promoted officers to maintain the highest integrity and professionalism. She highlighted the ceremony as a moment of pride and motivation for the officers, reinforcing their commitment to serve with honor.
