Gambiaj.com – (Banjul, The Gambia) – Police have arrested four suspected members of the Ghetto Force Crew following a violent gang clash in Sinchu Alagie, marking a significant development in the ongoing crackdown on gang violence across the Greater Banjul Area.
The suspects—Yaya Jallow, Modou Sanneh, Muhammad Lamin Jallow, and Salieu Ndow—were apprehended at Five Junctions in Sinchu Alagie, where a confrontation erupted between their group and the rival Blackpool Ghetto Crew.
The confrontation is believed to be part of a continuing cycle of retaliation between the two gangs.
Meanwhile, the clash resulted in injuries to several members of both gangs, with some individuals requiring medical attention. The police have been working tirelessly to curb gang violence in the area, conducting regular patrols and raids to dismantle these criminal organizations.
During the arrests, law enforcement recovered weapons and potential evidence from the suspects, including four cutlasses, three glass bottles, a knife, and two lengths of wire cable. All four individuals are currently in police custody as investigations proceed.
The arrest comes as part of a broader and intensified operation by the Gambia Police Force, which has stepped up patrols in several communities, including Wellingara, Sukuta, Sinchu Alagie, Talinding, Serrekunda, and Brusubi Phase 2.
While most areas remained calm during the patrols, tensions in Sinchu Alagie continue to pose challenges for law enforcement.
The increased police presence in these communities has been welcomed by residents who are grateful for the efforts to maintain peace and security. Despite the challenges in Sinchu Alagie, authorities are determined to restore order and bring those responsible for any disturbances to justice.
“The Gambia Police Force remains firm in its stance against gang violence,” a statement from the force noted. “These operations will persist until peace and public safety are fully restored.”
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to nearby police stations, as the campaign to dismantle gang networks and prevent further violence continues.
