In a statement released on Tuesday, the police addressed an audio recording circulating on WhatsApp that alleged a child had been abducted, placed in a bag, and transported in the mentioned vehicle.

According to the police, a thorough investigation conducted by the Wellingara Police found no evidence to substantiate the claims made in the widely shared recording.

“The Police can confirm that, as of this report, there is no evidence of a child being kidnapped, placed in a bag, or transported in the vehicle involved,” the statement read.

The GPF urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could incite unnecessary panic or fear within communities. “Such actions have the potential to disrupt public peace and create undue alarm,” the statement emphasized.
