Police Investigate Alleged Unnatural Offense in Old Yundum

Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The Gambia Police Force has confirmed it is investigating a reported case of unnatural offense (homosexuality) that allegedly occurred in Old Yundum on the evening of Friday, April 18, 2025.

According to a police notice released today, the case involves two male individuals, aged 18 and 22. I9ndependent sources indicate that officers from the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) apprehended the two young men after they were allegedly found engaging in same-sex activity inside an unfinished house in Old Yundum.

The arrested individuals were subsequently processed and transferred to the Anti-Crime Unit in Banjulinding, where investigations are currently underway.

The police statement emphasized that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident is ongoing. They have assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Homosexuality is illegal in The Gambia under laws that criminalize “unnatural offenses.” This ongoing investigation is likely to draw significant attention within the country and internationally, given the sensitive nature of such cases and the legal framework surrounding them in The Gambia.
