Gambiaj.com – (BANJUL, The Gambia) – The Gambia Police Force has opened an investigation into a reported theft from a private jet parked on the tarmac at Banjul International Airport. The aircraft, registered as PR-OOF, was found with missing items, including flight electronics, tools, and beverages. The pilot’s door was discovered open, though there were no signs of forced entry.
Authorities have yet to confirm who owns or parked the aircraft, but the registration—PR-OOF—indicates it is a Brazilian aircraft.
Experts, however, note that while the “PR” prefix aligns the aircraft with Brazil’s aviation code, the use of a double “O” in the suffix is highly unusual and not consistent with typical registration formats. This has added a layer of intrigue to the investigation.
Multiple sources have suggested that the aircraft had recently been used by President Adama Barrow for official visits to Gabon and Nigeria, although this has not been officially confirmed by the government.
Police have taken witness statements, reviewed airport CCTV footage, and are continuing forensic examinations of the scene. The incident has sparked broader concerns about security at The Gambia’s main international airport.
Authorities say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
